You pick up your new smart phone and call your best friend, but no answer. You proceed to leave a voicemail. You decide that the twenty minutes you planned on talking to your friend who did not answer, can be used to call your mom for five minutes. To your surprise your mom does not answer and you leave another voicemail. A person standing next to you is smiling and laughing while texting like they have four thumbs.
You decide to instead text your best friend and voilà, an immediate response! Just to test your sanity to be sure you did indeed call these people only a minute ago, you text your mom. Another immediate response via text! What is happening here? The age of mobile is happening. Oh, you thought the age of mobile meant everyone with a cell phone will be talking. Actually, you're quite mistaken. The age of mobile means "smart phones". Phones are so smart that you don't use them to talk! Whether it is convenience or a social evolution, people are starting to prefer texting over talking. The phone is being used to text, search, buy, play games, navigate and even advertise, or in mobile speak “appvertise”. It is a pocket-sized mobile computer. Mobile phones continue to get more sophisticated and so do their users. The expectations are higher and the developers, designers and mobile visionaries are responding.
Mobile wars are already in progress. Large companies are spending extreme sums of money to jockey for position in this new gold rush. An online presence is a must and nowadays an expectation from clients. Soon, so will it be for a mobile presence. Over 6 billion mobile application downloads are expected this year. Look for ways to expose your product or service via a mobile application. Your mobile application can be sold to the public to generate revenue or be offered at no charge to build brand awareness. It can be a private application only used by internal employees of your company to collaborate while in disparate locations. The uses are endless but the potential ROI can only begin with a vision and a strategy that understands time to market is a key factor as thousands of mobile applications are being invented daily.
So what about us? Yes, we have a mobile application in the works. After much thought, research and design, we will be introducing our mobile application to the world very soon. We will text you when it is available ;-)
